PRESS RELEASE
HCBA/PR/09-55 DATED:26-09-2009

Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association welcome the statement of President of Libya Col. Moamar Gaddafi for resolution of Kashmir dispute which he has given in his Presidential address in the ongoing annual meeting. It is a welcome development as one of the most influential global leader especially from the Muslim Countries has come forward with a straight forward outlook and need for urgent resolution of the Kashmir dispute and the Palestine issue. In a statement issued by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, its general Secretary Mr. G. N. Shaheen Advocate equally pays thanks to the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari for his endeavors to raise the Kashmir dispute in his address before the general assembly of the United Nations in his speech.

In the given situation the diplomatic efforts set afoot by the Govt. of Pakistan for seeking support for Kashmir cause and its resolution seem encouraging. Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association reiterates its firm belief that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute is imperative for durable peace, security, and economic prosperity of the South Asian Region and in this behalf the Govt. of India and Pakistan should resume comprehensive, constructive and meaningful dialogue process and involve the freedom leadership of Jammu and Kashmir in the dialogue process. Status quo in the sub-continent favours none and dialogue process for resolution of the Kashmir dispute is a way forward for addressing security concerns and avoiding a nuclear clash between India and Pakistan.

Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association while pressing for a meaningful dialogue between India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir appeals the world community especially the United Nations Organization to lend its support to Indo-Pak dialogue resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
