PRESS RELEASE
HCBA/PR/09-59 DATED:20-10-2009

In an extra ordinary meeting of the J&K High Court Bar Association presided over by the by the President Mian Abdul Qayoom rich tributes were paid to Shaheed Abdul Qadir Sailani Advocate on his 14 th Death Anniversary. Shaheed Abdul Qadir Sailani was martyred on 17 th of October 1995 and it is in this backdrop the Bar Association had devised a grogram to visit various jails is in Jammu Province and meet Kashmiri detainees lodged in different jails in Jammu province to remember the Shaheed Abdul Qadir Sailani in a positive way. On the death anniversary of the Shaheed Abdul Qadir Sailani the Bar Association had interactions with the prisoners of conscience in jails and Bar Association had felt it to pay in this way real tributes to the departed soul, as Shaheed Abdul Qadir Sailani was always in hunt for reducing the sufferings of the freedom lovers in jails.

In the meeting deep shock was expressed on the sad demise of Advocate Gh. Nabi Mir President District Bar Association Kupwara and while paying condolences, rich tributes were paid to the departed soul. A resolution was observed in the meeting thereby expressing solidarity with the bereaved family of late Advocate Gh. Nabi Mir of Dardpora Kupwara. It was held that the J&K High Court Bar Association shares the pain of the district Bar Association Kupwara equally on account of the death of Mr. Mir.

Further in the meeting the illegal, unlawful and unwarranted arrest of young cricketers from Kashmir valley namely Parveez Rasool and Mehraj-ud-din by the Karnataka Police was condemned and described an act of colonial imperialism by the Indian Rulers. It was observed in the meeting even if the said arrest is condemnable by all stretches of human imagination but J&K High Court Bar Association does not feel any surprise in their arrest as it is a common feature with the Indian rulers, police and security agencies to humiliate the Kashmiris in all parts of India. This humiliation is not a singular act but a continuous phenomena since 1947 as the Indian imperialists arrested Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on 8 th of August 1952 in a similar fashion and these humiliating and abhorable acts are eye openers for the loyals of Indian Imperialists in J&K.
