Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association reiterates demand of handing over the dead body of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat Advocate from Indian Govt. for its burial in Kashmir which is lying in Central Jail No. 3 Tihar Jail New Delhi since 11.02.1984. Today in an extra ordinary meeting of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association conducted in memory of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat on his 26th Martyrdom Anniversary presided over by the President Mr. Mian Abdul Qayoom, while paying rich tributes to the Shaheed Maqbool Bhat it was observed that Shaheed Maqbool Bhat is one of the principle and profound leader of the freedom struggle and his contribution towards the freedom struggle is remarkable and unforgettable. Shaheed Maqbool Bhat was a man with mission and political vision who provides a beacon light for the freedom fighters.
He is a living legend and shall live in the hearts of people of Jammu and Kashmir for all times to come. In the meeting it was demanded that the dead body of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat be returned by the Indian Govt. to the family members and the people of Jammu and Kashmir for burial in Mazar-i-Shuhda Iddgah Srinagar. It is the incumbent obligation upon the Govt. of India under international law and other international covenants to hand over the dead body of the Martyr to his family and allow the family members and his profound followers to bury the same in Mazar-i-shuhda Iddgah Srinagar with full religious rites. In the meeting it was held that the lawyers/advocates associates with the J&K High Court Bar Association shall suspend their professional work on 11.02.2010 in honour of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat and provide the lawyers an opportunity to pay homage to the departed soul with ease. Further it was held that the Bar Association supports the public programme given by the pro-freedom parties especially by the J&K Liberation Front on the eve of “MARTYRS DAY”.
Today on the resmi chaharum of Shaheed Vamiqa Farooq of Rainawari Srinagar observed at Mazar-i-shuhda Iddgah Srinagar, General Secretary of the Bar Association, Advocate, G. N. Shaheen while paying homage to the departed soul said that the ongoing spate of killing of the youth and school going children by the Indian Occupational Forces seems a part of well defined policy of genocide perpetuated by the Govt. of India in furtherance of its military occupation of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. By these inhuman military operations the Govt. of India and its surrogate agencies try to deter the freedom loving people and enforce a situation of retreat from the freedom struggle. He said the Govt. of India is misled and these occupation designs will never materialize to deter the people from pursuing the chosen path of freedom. It is the right time for the Govt. of Pakistan and India to resolve the Kashmir dispute on the principal of people’s right to self determination.

G.N.Shaheen,
Secretary,
J&K High Court Bar Association.
